The Libertarian Party of NC is hosting a Libertarian Presidential Debate on Sunday April 5, at the close of our annual convention. You can help make that happen by becoming a sponsor of the 2020 Libertarian Party of North Carolina Presidential Debate.

Speakers and Panel Discussions
Our keynote speaker for Saturday evening will be none other than Andrew Heaton. Andrew Heaton is a standup comedian, author, and the host of Reason TV’s “Mostly Weekly”. The World Comedy Club named him “NYC’s Greatest New Comedian” in 2013, and he has become exactly 7% funnier since receiving that award. He is a member of the New York Friar’s Club, one of the most prestigious groups of comedians and entertainers in the country, and has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, throughout the United States, and in Germany and Australia. In 2018 he was a finalist in the China International Standup Competition, despite knowing zero Mandarin and despising communism.
As a political comic he’s entertained numerous think tanks and advocacy groups, sinister political action committees, and opened for William Shatner at Freedom Fest in Las Vegas. He’s a regular at Electoral Dysfunction at the People’s Improv Theater in New York, and the Totally Dishonest Media Show at Stand Up New York. He hosted the award-winning series EconPop, a comedy show which explained economics through popular culture.
He is the author of the best-selling work of political satire Laughter is Better Than Communism, and two paranormal novels: Frank Got Abducted (about aliens) and Happier as Werewolves (a tender coming of age novel involving werewolves).

Nicholas Sarwark was first elected as chair of the Libertarian National Committee in June 2014, and is serving his third term as chair after being re-elected in 2018. Born in 1979, Sarwark is an unabashed, second-generation Libertarian with a strong commitment to fighting on the party’s behalf against unfair ballot-access obstacles and exclusion of qualified candidates from public debates.
As chair, Sarwark has played a prominent role in publicity, with his appearances in Reason magazine, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Slate, Salon, and the Los Angeles Times, as well as on “Kennedy” and “Stossel” on Fox Business, “Stossel on Reason,” the “Glenn Beck Program,” MSNBC, RT TV, NPR, and many more.

Jacob announced his candidacy for the 2020 Libertarian Party nomination at the South Carolina state convention. Jacob has also launched his new book My Passion for Liberty, where he details his life’s journey from the courtroom to the world of libertarian education and explains how liberty became the passion of his life. Adam Kokesh is running for Not-President of the United States with the Libertarian Party on the platform of the peaceful, responsible dissolution of the entire federal government. In 2007, Kokesh joined Iraq Veterans Against the War and helped bring the organization to national prominence as its most visible leader. He first came to national attention for holding up a score card during Alberto Gonzales' testimony to Congress regarding the dismissal of U.S. Attorneys keeping track of how many times he said, "I don't recall." While in jail in Washington, DC in 2013, he began writing FREEDOM!, now considered a "bible for voluntaryism." Arvin Vohra is running for President in order to downsize, defund, and eliminate damaging federal government programs. Before starting his own educational business, he studied Mathematics and Economics at Brown University, and then worked as an actuary. After seeing the negative effects of government on business, education, and more, Arvin spent more and more time working for the causes of liberty. Dr. Jo Jorgensen was the Libertarian Party Vice-Presidential Nominee with Harry Browne in 1996. Dr. Jorgensen currently is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Clemson University. She holds a Ph.D in Industrial/Organizational Psychology (Clemson 2002) and has taught full-time since 2006. She graduated in 1979 from Baylor University with a B.S. in Psychology and in 1980 from Southern Methodist University with an M.B.A. Dr. Jorgensen is a Life Member of the Libertarian Party. She supported Ed Clark for president in 1980 and has been voting Libertarian ever since. John Monds, a 2010 Georgia gubernatorial candidate, will seek the Libertarian nomination for president. He was the first African American to appear on the general election ballot for Governor of Georgia. John Monds was also the first Libertarian candidate to receive more than 1 million votes at the state level during his 2008 campaign for Georgia public service commissioner. John Monds is a 1987 graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia where he received a bachelor's degree in banking and finance.
